Installation and available images

EDIS lists Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 22.04 LTS as standard templates. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS exists upstream, but it was not listed in the verified EDIS template inventory.

  1. Choose a location and base VPS plan.
  2. Review the preselected OS version in checkout. You can later reinstall from the VPS image menu.
  3. Connect by SSH, apply updates and configure access, services and backups.

LTS releases provide a longer support window. Keep packages patched and check the support coverage of every application repository you add.

Containers and developer tools

Build Docker services or a web/API stack with the packages your application needs. Reserve memory and disk for builds, images and logs.

Configure SSH keys, firewall rules, service updates and backups. Ubuntu software support and VPS infrastructure support are separate responsibilities.

Questions before you choose

Which Ubuntu images are available?

The maintained EDIS template choices verified for this page are Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Check the live image menu during ordering.

Can I run Docker?

You can install and administer container software in your KVM guest. Choose CPU, memory and disk for all containers plus the operating system.

Should I choose LTS?

LTS is a practical starting point when you want a longer maintenance window. Confirm application and package compatibility before selecting the release.

Who manages the operating system?

EDIS operates the host infrastructure and platform. You administer the guest OS, software, firewall, updates, application security and backups. These are self-managed VPS plans.

Can I configure more RAM or storage?

The listed plans keep their original base specification and price. At checkout you can add up to 24 GB RAM and 400 GB drive capacity for an additional charge. Maximum totals are calculated from each plan’s included resources. An existing server needs a restart for RAM changes and filesystem expansion after a disk upgrade.
