View all plans in this location →How these estimates are calculated
Recurring comparison: (plan price × months) + the cheapest whole Traffic Pool bundle combination needed for that period, after using your available balance. The same forecast is used for each month. The calculation includes combinations of a higher plan plus Pool traffic.
Current cycle: expected total traffic − upgraded plan allowance − already assigned Pool Traffic. Existing usage is retained, and the forecast is never lower than that usage. Upgrade price is estimated as the monthly price difference × days remaining ÷ days in the monthly billing period. Traffic allowance is not prorated in this estimate. Your portal confirms the exact allowance, upgrade eligibility and invoice before payment.
Assignments use combinations of the manual 100 GB and 1 TB increments. Purchased traffic left unassigned remains in the Pool; assigned leftovers expire at the VPS’s next refill. Existing Pool balance has no new purchase cost here. No automatic overage charge or grace allowance is included.
Pool bundles: 1 TB €6; 10 TB €50; 100 TB €475; 1 PB (1,000 TB) €4,590; 10 PB (10,000 TB) €44,900. Pool prices checked 15 October 2026. VPS prices use the website’s location catalogue. All prices exclude VAT. This tool does not read your account or change a service.
Understand your traffic pattern
A short spike and a growing workload need different comparisons.
An occasional spike
Compare the cost to finish this cycle and the subscription price you will keep afterward. Pool traffic can cover a temporary increase while your VPS stays on its current plan.
Compare this cycle →Traffic you use every month
Compare several full months. A larger included allowance may cost less than repeatedly buying extra traffic. The calculator also checks upgrades combined with Pool traffic.
Compare recurring demand →Traffic patterns are illustrative; they do not represent a throughput guarantee or a measurement of an individual VPS.
A worked example: 3 TB a month in Amsterdam
Standard monthly prices for the Amsterdam location, using KVM Starter as the reference and an empty Traffic Pool. The comparison includes whole top-up bundles.
| Option | Included traffic | Plan + Pool purchase |
|---|---|---|
| KVM Starter + extra traffic | 2 TB | €14.49 |
| KVM Basic | 4 TB | €10.49 |
All amounts exclude VAT. €4.00 lower cost for the first full month in this example. Unassigned Pool leftovers remain available for later months; extend the comparison period to account for them.
Traffic Pool prices
One shared balance for your VPS services across EDIS Global locations. A larger bundle lowers the price per TB, but requires a larger upfront payment.
| Bundle | Price per TB | One-time price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 TB | €6.00 | €6.00 |
| 10 TB | €5.00 | €50.00 |
| 100 TB | €4.75 | €475.00 |
| 1 PB | €4.59 | €4,590.00 |
| 10 PB | €4.49 | €44,900.00 |
Excluding VAT. Checked 15 October 2026. 1 PB bundle = 1,000 TB; 10 PB bundle = 10,000 TB. View Traffic Pool bundles →
When should you buy extra VPS traffic?
Start with the traffic you already have. Your VPS includes a monthly allowance, and your account may also hold unassigned Traffic Pool credit. If that covers the expected usage, you do not need to buy anything.
For a temporary increase, such as a backup transfer, a busy launch or a short promotion, compare the additional payment needed to finish the current cycle. A Pool purchase keeps your existing subscription unchanged. An upgrade may have a lower immediate price, but the larger plan continues at its higher recurring price.
When is a higher VPS plan better value?
If the extra traffic is a regular requirement, compare full months. A plan with a larger included allowance can be cheaper than repeated top-ups. It may also provide useful RAM or disk capacity. The calculator checks available plans in your chosen location, preserving at least the reference plan’s base RAM, CPU count and disk size.
The best choice can be a combination: a higher plan for normal demand, plus Pool traffic for the remainder. Separately purchased resource upgrades, individual discounts and longer billing cycles need an account-specific comparison in the VPS portal.
Why the refill date matters
Plan Traffic refills monthly, and unused traffic already assigned to a VPS expires at its next monthly refill. Traffic left unassigned in your shared Pool remains available. Assign only what you expect to use before the refill; keep the rest in the Pool.
The current-cycle estimate keeps your existing usage and compares it with the higher plan allowance plus any already assigned Pool Traffic. The prorated payment is an estimate for a monthly subscription. Check the exact allowance, price and available upgrade path in your portal before paying.
VPS traffic calculator: common questions
Does traffic mean download, upload or both?
EDIS Global counts incoming and outgoing traffic together. Use the combined figure from the Traffic Information panel. A VPN relaying data may receive and then send the same payload, so both transfers contribute to its metered total.
Does buying Traffic Pool credit immediately increase my VPS allowance?
A purchase increases the shared Pool balance. Assign traffic to the VPS manually, or enable Auto-Hydration with a sufficient Pool balance. Auto-Hydration assigns existing credit at 99% usage; it does not purchase more credit.
Can I buy exactly the extra traffic shown by the slider?
Pool credit is sold in whole bundles. The calculator finds the lowest-cost bundle combination for your comparison and shows the unassigned balance remaining afterward. A large upfront bundle and a low monthly average are different amounts, so both are shown.
Will an upgrade reset my traffic usage?
This estimate retains traffic already used and compares it against the upgraded allowance. It does not assume that upgrading starts a fresh monthly cycle. Review the exact traffic allowance in your VPS portal.
What happens if I use all my traffic?
There is no automatic overage charge. After the approximate grace allowance, the connection is limited to around 1 Mbps. Assign Pool traffic, upgrade to a suitable plan, or wait for the monthly refill to restore the allowance. The calculator plans against the advertised allowance rather than relying on the grace margin.
Can I use this for annual billing or a discounted VPS?
The public calculator uses standard monthly plan prices, excluding VAT. Annual billing, promotional discounts, legacy prices and existing resource add-ons can change the result. Your portal provides the final price for your service.
Can I upgrade for a spike and automatically return to my old plan?
The calculator does not assume a later downgrade. An upgrade changes your ongoing subscription. For a temporary spike, consider that continuing cost alongside the estimated payment today.
